Required Technical Skill Set :
• Solaris and Red Hat Linux Administration.
Must Have :
• Good demonstration skill and troubleshooting experience on Solaris.
• Experience on Veritas Volume Manager and Cluster Environment.
• Good Understanding of system virtualization.
• Experience on SendMail and DNS, NIS and FTP Server Administration and Troubleshooting.
• Significant experience with PERL and shell scripting.
• Experience in managing Business Critical Applications and Database Servers.
• Experience on System Performance Analysis and Tuning.
• Knowledge on InfoBlox, IronPort and Majordomo.
Good to Have :
• Experience with Fujitsu, IBM pSeries and Sun hardware.
• Certification : ITIL, Unix System Administration. (Solaris/AIX/Linux)
• Experience on ITM, Remedy/Service Now.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments.
Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role :
• Monitor incident and service management queues.
• Ensure the department is in compliance with Change Management policies and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Install, patch and upgrade OS software for Solaris and Red Hat Linux systems.
• Develop process and work instruction documentation to enable Level 1 & 2 support from 24/7 (NOC) staff.
•Monitor and maintain UNIX systems and infrastructure services such as FTP, DNS, NIS, BIND, Veritas Cluster Server, Sendmail and syslog.
• Review the overall environment and inform management of new technologies and best practices to improve system performance and availability.
• Capture and analyze system metrics and present results to management.
• Capacity planning, provisioning and load management.
• Ensure that system documentation is kept up to date when changes are made in the environment.
• Identify and act on opportunities to reduce failures.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation as assigned.
• Coordinating with IT application teams and internal customers.
• General communication, both written and verbal.
• Performing off-hours (i.e. evening and weekend) maintenance activities.
• Mentoring less experienced system administrators.
• Using scripting languages (PERL, shell) to automate tasks.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation as assigned.
